Congressional Issues

Healthcare Reform: Many candidates push for policies to expand access to healthcare, lower prescription drug costs, and improve the Affordable Care Act. Proposals often include the creation of universal healthcare systems, like Medicare for All, or reforms aimed at reducing insurance premiums and increasing coverage.

Economic Growth and Job Creation:Candidates often advocate for policies that stimulate economic growth, reduce unemployment, and improve job quality. This includes pushing for tax reforms, infrastructure investments, and support for small businesses to create sustainable job opportunities.

Climate Change and Environmental Protection:Environmental sustainability is a prominent issue, with candidates calling for action on climate change, renewable energy, and conservation. Many support measures like the Green New Deal or policies to reduce carbon emissions, increase green energy jobs, and protect natural resources.

Immigration Reform:Immigration policy is another central topic, with candidates offering solutions for border security, pathways to citizenship, and protections for undocumented immigrants. Some focus on creating more inclusive policies, such as the Dream Act, or advocating for comprehensive immigration reform.

Social Justice and Equality:Candidates often highlight initiatives focused on racial and social justice, advocating for policies that address systemic inequalities. This may include criminal justice reform, eliminating voter suppression, increasing minimum wage, and advocating for gender equality.

Gun Control:Gun violence and gun control policies are crucial to many candidates' platforms. Proposals often include background checks for all gun buyers, bans on assault weapons, and measures to reduce gun violence while respecting Second Amendment rights.

Education Reform:Education is a cornerstone of many campaigns, with candidates focusing on increasing funding for public schools, making college more affordable, and expanding access to higher education. Some propose universal pre-kindergarten, student debt relief, and efforts to reduce disparities in education quality.

State Issues

Education:State lawmakers prioritize funding for public education, ensuring that schools have the resources to provide quality education from K-12 through higher education. Many push for increased teacher salaries, improvements to school infrastructure, and access to affordable higher education.

Healthcare Access:Expanding access to affordable healthcare at the state level is a key concern, especially in areas where Medicaid expansion is still a topic of debate. Legislators may also focus on mental health services, rural healthcare access, and insurance regulations.

Economic Development:State legislators often focus on policies that drive economic growth, create jobs, and attract businesses. This includes tax incentives, workforce development programs, and initiatives that support small businesses and industries such as technology, agriculture, or tourism.

Criminal Justice Reform:Issues such as reducing mass incarceration, improving policing practices, and reforming sentencing laws are often prioritized. Many state lawmakers push for alternatives to incarceration, increased rehabilitation programs, and fairer treatment for marginalized groups in the justice system.

Infrastructure and Transportation:Improving roads, bridges, public transportation systems, and broadband access are critical priorities. Many state legislators advocate for investing in infrastructure to reduce traffic congestion, enhance mobility, and address disparities in access to technology, particularly in rural areas.

Environmental Protection:State lawmakers often focus on environmental policies that promote sustainability, clean energy, and natural resource conservation. They may propose initiatives to address climate change, protect water resources, and support renewable energy development.

Taxes and Budget:State representatives and senators frequently work on crafting balanced budgets and determining tax policies. They may debate property taxes, sales taxes, income taxes, and overall fiscal responsibility to ensure the state’s financial health while addressing public needs such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
