1. Check Eligibility
Ensure you meet the following requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be at least 18 years old (you can pre-register if you are 16 or 17).
- Be a legal resident of Florida and the county where you’re registering.
- Not be currently serving a felony sentence without having rights restored.
- Not have been adjudicated mentally incapacitated concerning voting unless your rights have been restored.
2. Gather Required Information
Prepare the following:
- Florida Driver's License or Florida State ID, or
- The last four digits of your Social Security number.
3. Choose a Registration Method
You can register to vote in Florida by one of the following methods:
- Online: Visit the Florida Online Voter Registration System .
- In Person: Go to your local Supervisor of Elections office, a Florida Driver License office, or an agency providing public assistance.
- By Mail: Complete a voter registration application form and mail it to your county's Supervisor of Elections office.
4. Complete the Voter Registration Application
Include:
- Full legal name.
- Address of legal residence.
- Date of birth.
- Florida Driver's License, ID, or Social Security number.
- Party affiliation (optional; you can choose "No Party Affiliation").
- Signature and date.
5. Submit the Application Before the Deadline
Registration closes 29 days before an election. Make sure to submit your application before this deadline to be eligible to vote in the upcoming election.
6. Wait for Voter Registration Card
After your application is processed, you'll receive a voter information card by mail. This card confirms your registration and includes details about your voting precinct and polling location.
7. Update Information if Necessary
Notify the Supervisor of Elections if you need to update your address, name, or party affiliation, or if you move to a different Florida county.
